Dallas Trinity FC will close out another weekend as the USL Super League’s top team.

Thanks to a late goal from forward Rhea Moore, Trinity came away with a 1-0 victory over Sporting Jax on Saturday night at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. Moore, 15, came in as a substitute in the second half and took advantage of a defensive miscue to score her first professional goal in the 82nd minute.

Trinity (3-0-0) hit the road for the first time this season, taking on a Sporting Jax squad that’s in the midst of its first USL Super League campaign. While the Jacksonville-based club had a slight edge in possession, Trinity generated pressure throughout the match with consistent attempts on goal.

Trinity outshot Sporting Jax 23-11, ultimately cashing in as the clock wound down.

Moore came off the bench in the 74th minute, replacing forward Tamara Bolt. It took just eight minutes for Moore to make a significant impact.

What looked to be a routine pass from a Sporting Jax (1-2-0) defender ultimately set up the match-winning goal. A defender looked to send a short pass to a midfielder while standing in Jacksonville’s 18-yard box. The pass never found its desired target, landing in front of Moore.

Moore then took a few steps forward before sending a left-footed shot past the Sporting Jax goalkeeper.

The victory meant Trinity will stay in its first-place spot on the USL Super League’s standings. Trinity leads the league with nine points, while Fort Lauderdale United FC sits in second with five points.

Trinity’s regular season continues on Sept. 13 with a road battle against Fort Lauderdale.
