Al Horford
As the NBA regular season gets closer to getting underway, teams that have a few roster spots left open or even depth issues, will be looking to round out NBA Free Agency with signing some of the top remaining free agents still available.

One of the top free agents still available, despite seeing teams like the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks have interest, is Al Horford. It shouldn’t be much longer that Al Horford remains a free agent, and the ideal team that could end up signing him is the San Antonio Spurs.

Al Horford Signs With the San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are set when it comes to their starting center position as they still have Victor Wembanyama slotted in at that spot. Yet, Wembanyama is coming off having a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder that ended up resulting in his season being cut short last year. Wembanyama ended up getting cleared to play recently, which is a positive for San Antonio, but they need to be cautious with him early on.

The impact from Wembanyama is evident, as in 46 games last season for the Spurs, he averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.8 blocks per game. It’s hard to ignore that Wembenyama’s the star of the team, but the Spurs need to do a better job of filling out the team around him if they want to maximize their potential as a team while Wembenyama is in his prime.

They have started to do a good job ethos after trading for De’Aaron Fox last year, and then drafting Dylan Harper, but they have to continue to fill out the depth of the team to truly have success. Right now behind Wembenyama on the depth chart is Luke Kornet, and while he is ok, signing Al Horford would end up giving San Antonio more reliable depth at the center spot off the bench.

With the experience of Al Horford he would end up helping in keeping the develop process of this young Spurs’ team on track, while also being able to provide stable on-court play as well. Horford might be 39 years old, but he was able to average 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game last season, and that type of impact would be a great addition to San Antonio’s bench to help ensuring they can make an NBA Finals run.
