  • September 7, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is dead after being run over by a semi-truck in Phoenix on Friday night.

Police responded to an apartment complex near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road for reports of a serious accident. When they arrived just after 8:30 p.m., officers found a man with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died. The victim has not been identified.

Detectives say the driver, 40-year-old Brian Edwards, was moving the truck when the victim got out of the truck and was hit. Edwards remained on the scene and was taken into custody.

He was evaluated for impairment and booked on related charges, including manslaughter. In his initial appearance, MCAO said Edwards was operating the truck while under the influence of crack cocaine. His bond was set at $250,000 cash.
