Sunday’s Week 1 matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars hit an unfortunate snag in the second quarter, as action was stopped due to inclement weather in the area.

With 8:32 remaining in the second quarter, the Jaguars were able to get into the end zone for the the first time in the 2025 season, with Trevor Lawrence finding Hunter Long on a six-yard touchdown pass.

But unfortunately, after Cam Little was able to convert on the extra point, the game would be suspended due to inclement weather in the surrounding area outside of EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

Currently, there has been no word as to how long the delay could last. But the forecast doesn’t paint all that promising of a picture, as Brandon Lawson, a meteorologist at Queen City News shared in a post on X.

“Probably going to be a while in Jacksonville,” wrote Lawson. “Boundaries colliding and new storms forming along outflow boundary. I’d say at least an hour or two delay. Maybe longer depending on how storms progress. Might be hard to get out of lightning window.”

We saw in the opening game of the NFL season between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles just how much a weather delay can impact a game.

Both offenses in the Thursday Night Football matchup came to a grinding halt after the lengthy delay, with a combined three points being scored in the second half.

With that in mind, we could certainly see something similar in this Jaguars-Panthers matchup, which has obvious implications for millions of Fantasy Football players.
