JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal beating of an unidentified man found unresponsive inside a vacant building on Spearing Street.

JSO’s homicide unit said that patrol officers responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The victim, a man believed to be between 30 to 40 years old, was taken to Shands Hospital but died shortly after arrival.

JSO said the victim was involved in an altercation with an unknown individual during which he was beaten. At this time, no suspect has been identified.
