Rising junior golf standout Logan McGinn, 13, of South Williamsport officially qualified for the 121st Philadelphia Open championship after shooting a 1-over 71 in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s open qualifier this week.
McGinn, the youngest golfer in the field, earned his spot in one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious open championships, behind only the U.S. Open and Western Open. his round — which included 13 pars, two birdies and three bogeys — showcased mature course management and mental resilience.
He played in a featured group alongside Temple standout Matthew Vital and Siena College graduate Jack Hamilton, demonstrating that he belongs among the elite competition in the sport.
“I learned a lot watching how they managed their games,” McGinn said. “I just focused on my process and tried to stay steady mentally.”
Officially in the field for the 121st Philadelphia Open, McGinn is preparing to compete against some of the best amateur and professional golfers in the region.
“Qualifying was a huge goal of mine, but now the work continues,” McGinn said. “I’m not just there to play — I’m there to compete.”
