Cobourg man arrested on firearms charges

A Cobourg man has been arrested and charged with firearm-related offences.

On Friday, Cobourg police received information of the presence of unregistered firearms in a home in Cobourg.

The victim reported to police that the resident had shot at them some months ago.

The Criminal Investigation Branch began an investigation and later that evening executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a home on Campbell Street.

Officers located two long guns during the search.

The suspect was not present at the location at the time of the search.

On Saturday, a 41-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Discharge Firearm with Intent Careless Use of Firearm,
  • Pointing a Firearm,
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,
  • 2 counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm,
  • 2 counts of Unauthorized possession of Firearm and
  • 2 counts of Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm.

The accused was held for a bail hearing. His identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the witnesses.
