Pain at the pump. If you thought that was a phrase you wouldn’t have to hear for a while unfortunately that’s not the reality we live in. It appears that across New York we’re seeing a gradual increase in the price of gasoline and it’s likely not going to stop climbing any time soon.
If there are two things that I hate spending money on it is gas and groceries. I know that I need to spend my money on them, but I also go through them so quickly that it’s kind of just like burning money. It feels like both of those items keep costing us more while many of us here in the Capital Region continue to just make the same amount of money. At some point we’re not going to be able to afford life, but let’s not get too dark and dreary.
Right now according to AAA gas is up about 10 cents over the previous week. That data shows a stead increase since Labor Day.
Average prices
- Current average for regular – $3.26
- Last week average for regular – $3.17
- Last month average for regular – $3.17
We held pretty steady for a bit when it came to those prices but you knew they were going to go up at some point. We are still about 20 cents less than what it cost us this time last year which was around $3.40 per gallon for regular.
2025 has been a much better year for purchasing that gas that three years ago in 2022 when we saw gas in New York state reach over $3.50 per gallon for regular. I remain hopeful that we won’t see it hit that point again any time soon.
