San Diego State University will conduct a campus-wide test of its emergency communication systems on Wednesday, Sept. 10, as part of SDSU Ready Day, an initiative designed to strengthen preparedness and community safety.
At approximately 10 a.m., the university will activate its emergency alert systems to simulate the types of messages issued during an actual incident. The one-minute test will include non-emergency emails, text messages, digital signage, website updates, and social media posts sent to students, faculty, and staff at SDSU and SDSU Imperial Valley. In a real emergency, these alerts would also be published in real time and time-stamped at urgent.sdsu.edu.
Leading up to SDSU Ready Day, the university and the SDSU Police Department (UPD) will host informational tabling sessions to share safety resources and demonstrate preparedness tools.
The event underscores SDSU’s focus on proactive safety measures and encourages the campus community to take practical steps, including updating emergency contact information and enabling notifications through the SDSU Safe app.
SDSU Ready Day complements existing safety resources such as the Active Shooter Training Video developed by UPD and the SDSU Safe app.
