Veteran-owned Ginger’s Bistro will open this fall in the Stone Oak area, bringing another locally owned dining option to chain-heavy TPC Parkway.
Started by Army vet John Lopez and his wife Sharrah, Ginger’s Bistro will feature a menu that blends classic comfort dishes with Cajun-inspired flavors such as crawfish etouffee. Diners can look forward to gumbo, meatloaf, fried chicken, Mexican dishes and a weekend brunch featuring a variety of mimosas.
The bar at Ginger’s, 4250 TPC Parkway, Suite 106, will offer craft cocktails plus a curated wine selection along with outdoor patio seating that overlooks the nearby JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort.
“Our goal is to create a community space where people can gather, relax and enjoy great food,” John Lopez told the Current. “We thought it would be a great local spot for JW Marriott employees to enjoy after work since we’re so close by.”
The award-winning JW Marriott served as the primary space for elevated dining options on TPC Parkway, which is dominated by out-of-town chains.
However, slowly but surely, the street is developing more local flavor thanks to dining spots such as Ravello Italian Cuisine, located a short distance from Ginger’s. Casa Morgana Gelatos, a Los Balitos Taco Shop and laidback bar Puzzles Tavern are also located further down the thoroughfare.
What inspired the name of Ginger’s Bistro?
“It’s a tribute to my favorite redhead!” John Lopez said, explaining the moniker is an homage to his wife and main source of inspiration.
Finish-out work on Ginger’s is expected to wrap up in early October.
