Former Philadelphia sixth round pick Quez Watkins and veteran cornerback Mike Hilton were among six players who worked out for the Eagles on Monday
The Eagles had a familiar face at the NovaCare Complex on Monday, as Former Philadelphia sixth-round pick Quez Watkins and veteran cornerback Mike Hilton were among six players who worked out for the Eagles, according to NFL Communications. Watkins, 27, was initially drafted by Philadelphia in the 2020 NFL Draft and spent four years with the team. His best season came in 2021, when he caught 43 passes for 647 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles had hoped Watkins would become an integral part of their offense, but his production tailed off in 2022 and 2023.
Watkins signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh last offseason but failed to make the 53-man roster. The Steelers re-signed him to their practice squad following roster cuts.
Hilton made our list of potential free agents for Philadelphia to target, and the veteran cornerback could allow Cooper DeJean to slide over to the outside cornerback spot.
Foskey, 24, was drafted by New Orleans in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. However, he failed to post a single sack in two seasons, leading to his release last month. Foskey compiled 22.0 sacks over his last two seasons with the Fighting Irish, and a change of scenery may help extract that talent.
Notre Dame’s all-time sack leader wouldn’t be the first reclamation project Philadelphia took on from New Orleans. Linebacker Zack Baun was a rotational pass-rusher for the Saints before becoming an All-Pro with the Eagles last season. Perhaps Foskey can become the next success story under Vic Fangio.
