1. Texas police search for suspect in bar shooting that killed 1 and wounded 5 others

Police in Texas are searching for a man who opened fire at a bar early Sunday, killing a person and wounding five others in a county northeast of Houston.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said the shooter arrived at the Alas Locas restaurant and bar near Cleveland, Texas, around midnight, reports KTRK television.

2. Powerball lottery players in Missouri and Texas to split nearly $1.8 billion jackpot

Powerball players in Missouri and Texas won the nearly $1.8 billion jackpot on Saturday, overcoming astronomical odds to end the lottery game’s three-month drought without a big winner.

The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62, with the Powerball number being 17.

3. UT mentorship program aims to retain teachers amid statewide shortage

Texas continues to deal with a teacher shortage and high turnover rates, particularly with new teachers. The Learning Policy Institute says that a lack of support for new teachers is contributing to their leaving the industry. The mentorship program, Texas Education THRIVE at the University of Texas, is aimed at retaining teachers.
