Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in Deep Ellum shut down, with owners citing crime concerns affecting customer traffic.
DALLAS — Another Deep Ellum restaurant is closing up shop.
The Fuzzy’s Taco Shop at 2706 Elm St. announced it had closed permanently on Sept. 6. The owners confirmed the closure to WFAA.
“After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our Fuzzy’s Taco Shop location in Deep Ellum,” the owners told WFAA.
The owners specifically cited crime and recent neighborhood efforts to curb it as the catalysts for the closure.
“Unfortunately, ongoing financial challenges driven by decreased customer traffic in the area — largely due to concerns around crime and restrictions on business operating hours — have made it unsustainable for us to continue,” they wrote.
Fuzzy’s is the latest restaurant to close in the neighborhood. STIRR announced it was closing its Deep Ellum location in August, and Niwa Japanese BBQ closed in June.
“We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers and staff who supported us over the years, and we remain proud to have been a part of the Deep Ellum community,” the owners said.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop still operates two other Dallas locations on West Mockingbird Lane and North Central Expressway.
