Jaguars RB Travis Etienne wanted a quick start out of a rain delay
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne highlighted the Jaguars offense with a 71-yard burst that led to a second-quarter touchdowns.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles for two selections: a 2026 fifth and sixth-round pick, a league source confirmed to the Times-Union Monday evening.
According to ESPN’s Mike DiRocco, the fifth-round pick Jacksonville acquired from the Eagles was originally traded to Philadelphia by the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for Bryce Huff in June. That pick will become a fourth-round selection if Huff has eight sacks in 2025. If that happens, the Eagles will send the fourth-round selection instead of the fifth-round pick.
Bigsby was originally drafted by the Jaguars in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Bigsby was slated to operate as one of the four backs in rotation before the trade. The Jaguars had all four backs, including Bigsby, Travis Etienne, Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen, active in Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers.
Bigsby carried the ball just five times for 12 yards. He was one of four backs to receive carries. Here are the other stats from Jacksonville’s backfield:
- Etienne: 16 carries, 143 yards
- Tuten: 3 for 11
- Allen: 1 for 7
Jacksonville’s success on the ground against Carolina likely dictated the team’s want to deal Bigsby. The Jaguars rushed for 200 net yards on Sunday, carried primarily by Etienne’s 143-yard performance. The performance included a 71-yard scamper. Etienne is slated to command more attention in Jacksonville’s backfield as a result of Bigsby’s trade.
In addition, the team will likely utilize Tuten more, who was drafted by Jacksonville in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Allen, the team’s seventh-round pick this year, operated as a pass-blocking back, routinely in for Jacksonville’s third-down plays.
What are Tank Bigsby’s career stats?
Tank Bigsby has rushed for 910 yards on 223 carries (4.1 yards per carry) in his career. He has nine touchjdowns. The bulk of Bigsby’s stats came during the 2024 season when he was the team’s leading rusher with 766 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
Though the Jaguars lack a first-round pick due to the move to acquire receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, the franchise is still slated to have a slew of picks available to them.
Jacksonville has 13 selections now, including multiple picks in the third (three), fifth (three) and seventh (four) rounds.
