PHOENIX – A dozen Arizona lottery players won at least $50,000 during Saturday’s Powerball drawing, which had a near-record jackpot.

All 12 tickets matched four of the five white numbers – 11, 23, 44, 61 and 62 – plus the red Powerball of 17, a combination good for $50,000.

However, three of the entries included the $1 Power Play option, which ended up doubling the winnings. The $100,000 tickets were purchased at the following locations:

  • QuikTrip, 9020 N. 91 Ave., Peoria.
  • Desert Springs Travel Center, 4031 Fleet St., Littlefield.
  • Winners Corner, 524 W. Broadway Road, Tempe.

Of the nine $50,000 tickets, five were sold in the Phoenix area:

  • Fry’s Food Store, 3261 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert.
  • Walmart, 2725 E. McKellips Road, Mesa.
  • QuikTrip, 2420 E. Greenway Parkway, Phoenix.
  • Grab N Go, 8802 S. Central Ave., Phoenix.
  • Players Cafe, 3135 S. Mill Ave., Tempe.
  • Safeway, 2140 W. Grant Road, Tucson.
  • Walmart, 1017 W. Haul Road, Page.
  • Bashas’, 3269 Maricopa Ave., Lake Havasu City.
  • El Mercado Market, 2261 E. Frontage Road, Tubac.

Saturday’s largest lottery prize in Arizona didn’t come from Powerball. A Fantasy 5 ticket from the Safeway at 6360 E. Golf Links Road in Tucson won the $199,000 jackpot in that game.

How did Powerball jackpot reach $1.8 billion?

Ticket sales surged as the Powerball jackpot climbed to a near-record $1.8 billion through 40 consecutive drawings without a winner.

Two winning tickets were sold for Saturday’s drawing, one each in Missouri and Texas. The winners will split the jackpot, the second largest prize in U.S. lottery history. The record is a $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in California on Nov. 7, 2022.

The estimated jackpot amount is for a winner who opts to receive 30 payments over 29 years through an annuity. Winners almost always choose the game’s cash option, which for this drawing would pay out an estimated $826.4 million for the winners to split.

Powerball tickets cost $2 each, and the game is offered in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
