The Chicago Police Department (CPD) issued a community alert about a recent string of armed robberies across the city, including in Beverly.

On Sept. 2, CPD officials said, in multiple incidents a suspect entered a small retail store or restaurant, displayed a black handgun and demanded money from employees.

According to the CPD, incidents occurred throughout the city in August, including in Beverly on the 2400 block of West 103rd Street on Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m.

The suspect was described by CPD as a white Hispanic male between the ages of 20 to 30 years old, with a height of 5’06” to 5’08” and around 160 pounds, wearing a beige baseball cap, a blue camouflage hooded sweatshirt/black White Sox hooded sweatshirt/black North Face jacket, cross-body bag, black cargo pants and black gym shoes.

Authorities said similar crimes have occurred on the 3900 block of South Archer Avenue on Aug. 9 at 5:18 p.m.; on the 6000 block of West Higgins Avenue on Aug. 19 at 11:50 a.m.; on the 2000 block of North Damen Avenue on Aug. 19 at 1:38 p.m.; and on the 2700 block of North Harlem Avenue on Aug. 26 at 7:21 p.m.
