NEW YORK – NBC 4 New York, Telemundo 47 and Comcast NBCUniversal announced $227,272 has been awarded to six local nonprofit organizations through the 2025 NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants. Since 2018, NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 have now provided more than $1.7 million to 43 nonprofits through the annual grant program.

For the eighth year, the competitive grant challenge is awarding unrestricted funding to eligible nonprofits making a difference in the Tri-State Area. Applications were accepted in three categories: youth education and empowerment, next generation storytellers, and community engagement. The 2025 application window for 501(c)(3) nonprofits was March 11 through April 11.

“Our 2025 Local Impact Grant winners are making a real difference in our community – fighting hunger in our neighborhoods, delivering important mental health services and creating new access for educational and creative outlets for youth. Their work is inspiring and remarkable,” said Eric Lerner, President and General Manager of NBC 4 New York.

“Through these grants, our stations are invested in our communities and supporting the important work of our local non-profits. This year’s winners are the hearts of the community, focusing on the next generation through health education, mentoring upcoming entrepreneurs and empowering youth through different creative arts services. The 2025 NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants are providing $2.5 million in funds to nonprofits serving one of NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations’ 11 U.S. markets, which are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Miami, San Diego and Hartford, Conn. Founded in 2018, NBCUniversal’s grant program has now provided $21 million to 615 nonprofits.

NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants recipients in the Tri-State Area are:    

Jump-In Enrichment Inc.: $50,000

  • Jump-In Enrichment equips Brooklyn youth with academic support, life skills, and career development, focusing on tech pathways and mental health. They prioritize youth from foster care, shelters, and low-income communities.

New Community Project, Inc.: $50,000

  • New Community Project (NewComm) empowers high school students through a two-year fellowship. It merges academic support with real-world projects and industry partnerships to foster leadership and career skills.

University Community Social Services, Inc.: $40,000

  • University Community Social Services provides hot meals and social services to New York City’s hungry and homeless with an all-volunteer workforce. They also connect guests with clothing, healthcare, housing, and employment support.

Drama Club, Inc.: $40,000

  • Drama Club Inc provides year-round theater programming to incarcerated and court-involved youth in NYC, fostering leadership, creativity, and emotional growth. Their mission is to help youth thrive using improv and trauma-informed practices.

Girls Helping Girls Period: $32,272

  • Girls Helping Girls Period educates students on menstrual health and advocates to end period poverty through workshops and public awareness. They focus on empowering students in to manage periods safely and with confidence.

Project Write Now: $15,000

  • Project Write Now is a nonprofit transforming lives through expressive writing programs for youth and adults, focusing on emotional well-being, confidence, and communication. They collaborate with schools and nonprofits to offer free or reduced-rate programs.
