(WRGB) — The New York State Cannabis Control Board (CCB) announced that legal cannabis retail sales have exceeded $2.09 billion, with $1.06 billion generated in 2025 alone. This milestone reflects the rapid growth of New York’s regulated cannabis market.
During a public meeting at the Hilton Albany, the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) shared updates on compliance with Cannabis Law, advancements in the Seed-to-Sale tracking system, and the launch of the Cannabis Education Advisory Panel (CEAP). The OCM emphasized its commitment to building a dynamic and equitable cannabis market.
The CCB approved 46 new adult-use licenses, increasing the total to 1,904 statewide. Of these, 69% were awarded to Social and Economic Equity (SEE) licensees. Jessica García, Chair of the Cannabis Control Board, said,
Our work extends far beyond issuing licenses and setting regulations, it’s about shaping a cannabis industry that truly reflects the values of New York.
To address confusion over provisional license timelines, the CCB extended all provisional CAURD and adult-use licenses until December 31, 2026. This extension aims to provide clarity and consistency for license holders.
The Cannabis Education Advisory Panel (CEAP) was approved to guide youth-focused cannabis education. Felicia A.B. Reid, Acting Executive Director of the OCM, said,
Information is power and education is the heartbeat of progress.
New York’s legal cannabis market continues to thrive, with 464 dispensaries open across the state. Simone Washington, Chief Equity Officer of the OCM, highlighted ongoing efforts to support SEE licensees, stating,
Their long-term sustainability is a marker of our collective success.
The OCM also reminded cultivators of the PowerScore reporting deadline and provided resources to assist with compliance.
