It appears the Green Goblin, Jalen Mills, wants to come home and rejoin the Philadelphia Eagles.
Whether they have played in Los Angeles, Oakland, or in Sin City, the Las Vegas Raiders have lived by several codes that Philadelphia Eagles fans have probably heard before. We’re familiar with their “Commitment to excellence” and “Just win baby” mantras. Still, it’s easy to appreciate another one of their most well-known and popular phrases, “Once a Raider, always a Raider.”
That last one didn’t seem to apply to Marcus Allen for a while, but it’s all good. Mark Davis extended the olive branch. Everyone made up, so that’s another story for another occasion.
At the heart of the phrase, its intent speaks to loyalty. That’s where our story begins. Every fan and sports franchise can appreciate that, can’t we? Even though there is no real Eagles parallel, sometimes the Birds, regardless of where they fly, are Birds forever. Look no further than Jalen Mills for excellence.
Jalen Mills makes his pitch for an Eagles reunion.
Nothing was more enjoyable than watching Jalen Mills wag the finger whenever a pass was thrown his way unsuccessfully. Now, if we’re being honest, there were times when he had nothing to do with the incompletion, but don’t tell him that. Besides, who cares? He’s a Super Bowl champion and forever our ‘Green Goblin’.
Mills left the nest during the 2021 offseason after signing with the New England Patriots. He has since sandwiched a nine-game stint on the New York Jets roster (2024) with stints on the New York Giants and Houston Texans‘ practice squads. As most of the BFL’s teams began work on Sunday, Mills responded to an Eagles fan by asking if Philadelphia might be interested in his services.
We love Jalen Mills, but if we’re being honest, any ship potentially steering itself towards a potential reunion probably sailed a while ago. Philadelphia seems set at the safety position with Reed Blankenship. Sydney Brown and Andrew Mukuba.
A three-man rotation could be viewed as being light, but Cooper Dejean can play safety in base sets. Philadelphia also has Marcus Epps and Andre’ Sam on the practice squad, so again, this seems like something Philadelphia would pass on for the time being.
Still, we’ll always have love for Mills. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle, remember? That is, unless, of course, we’re discussing someone like Jason Babin or Chip Kelly, but the man who made green mohawks look cool has nothing to fear about where he stands in the hearts of fans.
