WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend a New York Yankees game in the Bronx on Thursday to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the news Tuesday during a news conference. She also said Trump will attend an event at the Pentagon Memorial earlier in the day.
The baseball game is set for 7:05 p.m., with the Yankees to take on the Detroit Tigers. The Yankees and Tigers are currently the top two teams in the American League.
Families of fallen first responders will reportedly attend the game with Trump, who is from New York.
Thursday will mark the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, which occurred the Sept. 11, 2001.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed when hijackers crashed jetliners into the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Virginia, and a field in southwest Pennsylvania during the attacks. More than 2,700 of the victims died in the fiery collapse of the trade center’s twin towers.
The Trump administration on Friday said it is exploring whether the federal government can take control of the 9/11 memorial and museum in New York City.
