Florida bear harvest permit applications open Friday

  • September 10, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Bear harvest permit applications for the 2025 season open on Friday.

Applications for Florida’s regulated bear hunting season can be submitted starting September 12 at 10 a.m. through September 22 at 11:59 p.m.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, a bear harvest permit is required to harvest a bear in one of the four selected Bear Harvest Zones. The season runs from December 6 to 28.

A hunting license is also required.

To submit an application, you must be at least 18 years old by October 1. There is a $5 fee per application, plus handling fees. Applicants can submit as many applications as they want during the submission period.

Permits will be distributed by random drawing.

Only one permit will be issued per person, and they are nontransferable.

Permits cost $100 for residents and $300 for nonresidents.

Hunters can submit this website by filling out an application worksheet and presenting it to a license agent or a Florida tax collector’s office.
