It was a morning to remember across Houston as temperatures dipped into the mid to low 60s—a refreshing sight not seen since the end of May,
Wednesday’s Forecast:
Likewise, Wednesday morning will be spectacular with lows in the mid-60s and low humidity! Enjoy it!
In fact, Wednesday morning will bring some of the most pleasant temperatures of the season.
Expect to start the day with lows in the mid to upper 60s across Houston and Conroe, with Galveston holding close to 80 degrees. But as the day heats up, the forecast calls for afternoon highs reaching 94 degrees by 3 p.m. While things will still feel relatively comfortable at first, you’ll want to plan for heat as the day goes on.
An ozone watch is in effect for Wednesday afternoon. The combination of sunny skies, warm temperatures, and light winds could create air quality issues. Those sensitive to air quality might want to limit afternoon outdoor activities.
Wednesday AM Lows
We will have sunny skies and highs in the lower-90s.
Wednesday
This is Houston in September, so this crisp cooler weather won’t last long.
Late week changes:
Dew point levels signal a shift toward more humid weather as we move to Thursday and Friday. Expect humidity to rise, with forecasts turning from “comfortable” to “muggy” and “humid.” Winds will change direction from northeasterly to southeasterly by Thursday, allowing more moisture to move in from the Gulf. A passing coastal shower is possible on Thursday, though rain chances remain low.
Tropical Outlook:
No tropical development is expected in the Atlantic over the next week — a noteworthy break, considering we’re sitting at the statistical peak of hurricane season on September 10. Historically, this week is when the basin is most active, with the greatest number of storms on record forming around this date.
Quiet across the Atlantic
Given that we are nearly at the peak of hurricane season, it is remarkable that we’re relatively quiet in the Atlantic Basin. However, we’ll keep a watch on the boundary that is sitting in the Gulf.

Nothing to worry about now, but some long-range models are looking to spin up a weak open low-pressure system by the end of the week. We’ll keep a watch on it.

Your extended forecast:
Afternoon highs will stay warm, in the upper-80s to low-90s, but sunshine dominates the forecast through the week. If you want to soak up this taste of fall, mornings are your best bet before the summer stickiness makes its comeback.
Temperatures and dewpoints will be on the rise again. Expect highs in the mid-90s by the end of the week. However, we’ll stay rain-free for the entirety of the 10-day forecast!
