Houston readies for FIFA World Cup. What to know about tickets, dates and NRG matches

  • September 10, 2025

HOUSTON, Texas – The City of Houston is preparing for one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

With the first of seven FIFA World Cup matches in Houston now nearly nine months away, excitement is building, and tickets are starting to roll out.

Houston will host seven matches at NRG Stadium between June 14 and July 4, 2026.

The first phase of ticket sales, the Visa Presale Draw for Visa cardholders, opened at 10 a.m. Wednesday and runs through Sept. 19.

Fans must register on the FIFA website to enter the presale draw; if you’re selected in the random draw, you’ll get a date and time in October to purchase tickets.

Additional ticket opportunities will follow in phases, including a separate lottery for the general public around late October and a first-come, first-served phase at a later date.

Single-match tickets are expected to start at $60 and could reach more than $6,000 for the final in New York.

The event is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to Houston.

“Each match is like a Super Bowl,” one attendee said.
