BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — IU men’s and women’s basketball are starting the season with a new fan event, and this one will be away from Assembly Hall.
The teams are heading to Kirkwood Avenue and the Sample Gates for the Hoosier Hoops event on Thursday, October 2 from 8-10 p.m.
The event will have player introductions, skills competitions, and meet-and-greet with the team.
The men’s basketball program is heading into their first season with Darian DeVries as the head coach. DeVries brough in 10 transfers to Bloomington this season, including his son Tucker DeVries. Tucker was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year.
The women’s basketball program has made the last six NCAA Tournaments with Teri Moren at the helm of the program. Shay Ciezki is the leading returning scorer. She averaged 11.4 points per game last season.
The Hoosiers also brought in the past two miss Indiana Basketball winners. Maya Makalusky (2025) will be a freshman and Chloe Spreen (2024) transferred from Alabama.
