Police were investigating a homicide Wednesday morning at an Old East Dallas motel, officials say.

A police call log showed more than a dozen units responded about 9:30 a.m. to reports of a stabbing in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard.

According to police officials, a suspect cut the “victim with an edged weapon several times.” Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim as 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah.

Officers in patrol cars parked near the intersection of Samuell Boulevard and Dolphin Road were directing traffic away from the motel, located across from the Tenison Park Golf Course. Evidence markers were also seen at a nearby liquor store, where investigators were seen photographing and bagging a large bloody knife.
