A teen-age suspect was in custody Wednesday in connection with the fatal shootings of two men at a Nestor storage lot over Labor Day weekend, authorities said.
The suspect, a 16-year-old Tijuana resident whose name was withheld due to his age, was arrested Friday. He is the second person taken into custody in the case.
The duo allegedly took part in the slayings of Aaron Cruz, 42, and Richard Hartung, 64, in the 2000 block of Sunset Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.
At about 3:30 a.m. Aug. 30, patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire found Cruz and Hartung dead inside the camping-style trailers they lived in at the storage facility just north of the border, Lt. Lou Maggi said.
On Sept. 2, officers pulled over an SUV on West Calle Primera in San Ysidro and arrested the first suspect, David Verduzco Kruglova, 24. He is charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody ahead of an Oct. 16 hearing.
Police have released no suspected motive in the case and have not disclosed the relationships, if any, between the victims and suspects.
