A video posted by Nina Dobrev just days before news of her split from Shaun White is raising eyebrows.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, PEOPLE confirmed that the couple had called off their engagement. A source told PEOPLE it was a “mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
Fans were shocked by the breakup, which came nearly a year after White, 39, popped the question to Dobrev, 36, in New York City. Since then, a video posted on TikTok by Dobrev on Sept. 6 has since gained traction and circulated among fans.
In the video, the actress mouthed along to a sassy audio while dressed casually in a Nike sweatshirt and a bare face.
“How do you sleep at night knowing people don’t like you? With no underwear, in case they wanna kiss my ass,” the audio said. “What’s your advice for women trying to fix their man? Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew.”
Dobrev didn’t elaborate on the video in the caption, writing only, “👷🏻♀️🚜🔨,” but in the comments section, some fans reacted to the audio and began speculating about the reasons for their split.
“Well, this video makes sense now after the split news,” one fan wrote, while another fan stated, “Ohhhh now this clocks”
Neither White nor Dobrev have commented publicly on the split, and the reasons behind it remain unknown.
The couple was together for five years and had been at the beginning of their wedding planning as of this summer.

In June, White told PEOPLE he and Dobrev were in a “fun sort of planning phase of life” and that his future with the actress had “really become the focal point” of his life.
“It’s very exciting to have new aspirations and new things that we’re going after,” he said. “It’s very humbling and very exciting, and she’s excited.”

The pair were last seen together on Aug. 31 in Los Angeles as they stopped by a farmers’ market and held hands. However, Dobrev’s most recent public appearance came on Sept. 7 at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she posed on the red carpet without her engagement ring.
Following their October engagement, a source told PEOPLE that everyone was “so happy” for the couple, who were “just glowing” after the surprise proposal.
“They are a perfect fit together — fun and adventurous, but also very grounding for each other,” the source said.
