SAN ANTONIO — Family and friends gathered on the Southside for a celebration of life, honoring Axel Hernandez, a little boy who tragically lost his life on his 6th birthday.
The event took place at Pica Pica Plaza, where attendees paid their respects to the young child.
Axel was playing on his scooter in the driveway when he accidentally went into the road. According to police, an elderly driver struck him with a pickup truck, claiming he did not see the child.
Axel’s family expressed their desire to honor his memory, saying, since he didn’t get to celebrate his big day, they were using the occasion to “re-celebrate his short life.”
