ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Atlanta Braves host the Houston Astros on Friday, marking the 14th of 15 regular season games broadcast on Gray Media in 2025.
The Braves (65-81) are in the home stretch. A forgettable season plagued with injuries is soon coming to a close. The Astros, however, sit at 79-68, good enough for first place in the AL West, just half a game ahead of the Seattle Mariners.
Houston bears a strong resemblance to Atlanta. Both endure hot, humid climates and field baseball teams plagued by injuries at a level that would typically derail a standard organization’s season.
But the Astros have persisted, maintaining a playoff push despite numerous holes in their pitching staff, the newest being right-hander Luis Garcia, who will miss the remainder of the season with a right elbow injury.
Garcia underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2023 and endured a 28-month recovery before Tuesday’s injury against the Toronto Blue Jays. He flew back to Houston on Wednesday to be evaluated by team doctors, according to reports.
