Time for a furniture refresh in your home’s main living space, or need to know what to expect in a complete kitchen renovation? The American Society of Interior Designers’ San Diego chapter invites homeowners and renters to experience a stress-free consultation with a professional interior designer in their own homes.
During the chapter’s “Summer Spruce Up” program in July and August, consumers can schedule an hourlong consultation with an ASID member for a $115 donation to ASID. The donation supports the local chapter programs; the designer donates their time.
From July 1 to 15, clients may register online for a consultation; then, consultations will be scheduled from July 26 through Aug. 31.
“This is an excellent opportunity to get affordable design advice, whether you’re planning an entire remodel or have a specific design challenge,” said Beverly Feldman, San Diego chapter president.
“Spruce Up has been popular with homeowners for years, and this year we want to extend the invitation to renters,” Feldman said. “Rented spaces, whether they are lofts, apartments, houses or (accessory dwelling units) ADUs, often present design challenges that require careful planning and clever solutions due to size constraints and the desire to personalize the space without damaging the property.
“Our designers are also aware of many ingenious multifunctional furniture solutions that do double duty.”
Feldman noted that the designer can help with any design question. Examples include furniture placement and design, color selection, window treatments, aging-in-place solutions, media rooms, kitchen and bath remodels, outdoor kitchens and patios, ADUs and multigenerational living spaces.
ASID will pair clients from throughout San Diego County with the ideal professional based on their individual needs and location.
“Professional design guidance is not an extravagance,” Feldman said. “Designers can help minimize costs by eliminating costly mistakes and getting the most value for the money you invest in your home.”
Ann and Tom LaVoy, former Spruce Up clients, said: “The ASID Spruce Up program was a godsend. It showed us how easy it is to work with a designer — in our case, Tanya Snyder of Kismet Interiors. She was very eager to learn about our tastes and interests. We really benefited from her expertise and are pleased with the whole collaborative experience. As it turned out, we continued to work with her to remodel our home — all because of Spruce Up.”
