The four Grand Slams were shared by four different women in 2025, with one player winning her maiden title.

In Australia, Madison Keys won her first Grand Slam, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the final.

Suffering her second-straight major final defeat, Sabalenka then lost to Coco Gauff in the Roland Garros final.

At Wimbledon, Iga Swiatek added a sixth Grand Slam title to her resume, dominating Amanda Anisimova on Centre Court.

Finally, in New York, Sabalenka got her hands on a major, winning the US Open in style.

We only saw one new Grand Slam champion in 2025, but will we see any more in 2026?

Nick Kyrgios’ former coach has now named the WTA star he believes has a good chance of winning her first title next year.

Simon Rea thinks Mirra Andreeva can win a Grand Slam in 2026

Appearing as a guest on the latest episode of ‘The Tennis’ podcast, Simon Rea was asked to predict who the next ‘new’ Grand Slam winner will be.

“I think Mirra Andreeva is only going to continue to get better,” he said.

“I think particularly on clay, at Roland Garros, we could see her being in with a red-hot chance.”

Mirra Andreeva has been a revelation on the WTA Tour in 2025, winning two WTA 1000 titles and breaking into the top five.

Her Grand Slam campaign was solid, making a step forward from 2024, winning four more matches in total.

Mirra Andreeva’s Grand Slam record

As Rea suggested, Andreeva has played her best tennis at Roland Garros, reaching the semifinals in 2024 and the quarterfinals in 2025.

Back in 2024, Andreeva picked up one of the biggest wins of her career to qualify for the final four, stunning the number-two seed Sabalenka in three sets.

She couldn’t quite get over the line to reach the final, however, losing out to Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the semis.

The world number five will certainly be in with a shout of winning her first Grand Slam in Paris next year, when the French Open begins on May 18, 2026.

Also asked to pick who she believes will win their first Grand Slam in 2026, Australia’s Billie Jean King Cup captain Nicole Pratt had this to say.

“Even though he’s just pulled out of the rest of the year, that could be a positive… Jack Draper,” she said.

The British star began the 2025 season in fine form, winning Indian Wells and reaching the final of the Madrid Open.

Unfortunately for Draper, injuries derailed his season, allowing him to play just three matches post Queen’s.

He is now scheduled to return to ATP Tour action in early 2026, where he will resume his hunt for a first career major title.

Simon Rea is concerned Daniil Medvedev will continue to fall down the rankings

The guests were then asked to predict which players will see their ranking change the most over the next 12 months.

“I think there’s a watch on [Daniil] Medvedev,” said Rea

“I think he’s been a slider. It could go one of two ways; if I were to hazard a guess, I think he might slide further yet.

“Just split with Gilles Cervara after a long, long, long-term partnership, I think Medvedev could continue to go south in a rankings perspective.”

Medvedev endured a torrid Grand Slam campaign, winning just one match across the four tournaments.

Reacting to his poor run of form, Medvedev replaced Gilles Cervara with Thomas Johansson, the 2002 Australian Open.

Once ranked number one in the world, Medvedev currently sits 18th in the rankings.

Medvedev will hope to return to the top ten in 2026 with Johansson by his side, although Rea isn’t so sure.

Fans will get their first look at Medvedev since he hired a new coach at the Hangzhou Open in China, where he will compete as the number-two seed.

The 2025 Hangzhou Open ATP 250 event begins on Monday, September 15.
