SAN ANTONIO – Two people are facing charges after they were caught with stolen mail from several homes in a Far West Side neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday near the 10300 block of Gold Rush Creek.

According to a deputy from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy on patrol spotted a car that seemed out of place and stopped to check on it.
The driver, 37-year-old Cecily Rae Beltran, claimed she was just there to pick up her cousin. She denied knowing anything about the mail, telling deputies her passenger had stepped out of the car and later returned carrying items she didn’t question.
That passenger, 29-year-old Marcos Rene Martinez, refused to explain when asked about the stolen mail that deputies say was found tucked under his seat.
In all, about 15 homes were affected. One homeowner has already said they plan to press charges, while others are still being notified. Deputies noted that the neighborhood mailboxes weren’t damaged, and no surveillance video has been found so far.
Beltran and Martinez were both taken to the Bexar County Jail on charges of possessing stolen mail.
