SAN ANTONIO — Three Yoakum firefighters took part Thursday in the San Antonio 110 9/11 Memorial Climb, honoring the 343 New York City firefighters who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Mario Juarez, Isaiah Riebeling and Wesley Bordovsky joined hundreds of other participants at the Tower of the Americas, where they carried tags bearing the names of the fallen.

Climbers made the ascent twice — the equivalent of 110 floors — to represent the height of the World Trade Center towers.

The annual memorial climb serves as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of first responders who gave their lives that day.
