While some grocery store chains, like Tops Friendly Markets, are closing locations in 2025, Trader Joe’s is doing the opposite. The California-founded grocery store, known for its unique variety of adventurous snacks (Everything but the Bagel chips, anyone?) and popular shopping totes, announced this month that it will be opening new stores in seven states.
Texas, South Carolina, California, Connecticut, Florida, Washington, and New York will each be getting a new Trader Joe’s location, according to the Trader Joe’s “Store Openings” page.
Fortunately for us, the new New York location will be in Upstate New York. Trader Joe’s will be opening a store in Williamsville, NY, located at 5017 Transit Rd.
As of now, details regarding the store’s opening have yet to be announced.
Other new locations will include Cypress, TX; Columbia, SC; Hamden, CT; Costa Mesa, CA; Melbourne, FL; and Lacey, WA.
Trader Joe’s first opened in 1967, founded by Joe Coulombe, in Pasadena, California. There are currently over 600 locations across 43 states. Not including the forthcoming Williamsville location, Trader Joe’s has 37 locations in 23 cities across New York state. Other Upstate NY locations include Syracuse, Ithaca, Buffalo, and Rochester.
