Re “Does Terminal 1 upgrade really address long-term airport needs?” (Sept. 5): Gary Wonacott’s letter shares his long-term concerns about our airport’s ability to support our future needs. This concern has been tossed around (and tossed aside) for years. It was an issue when I moved here 52 years ago and it’s still getting the mañana treatment.

He and I separately responded to an article published by the U-T on Oct. 17, 2021. We both provided factual data and forward-looking ideas. Both of our opinions were published by the U-T.

But our “leaders,” both city and county, are more concerned about their images than about doing what’s right and what’s prudent.

Shame on them, shame on us for putting up with it for so long.
