SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Skidmore College volleyball team completed play at Swarthmore’s Phoenix Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a three-set loss (25-14, 25-15, 25-20) to Wesleyan University.

  • Skidmore finished the weekend 1-2 and is 4-5 overall.
  • Wesleyan is off to a 6-0 start.
  • Maya Stolarz led Skidmore with seven kills and a .353 hitting percentage.
  • Jazlin Chen, Madison Manning, and Chloe Heitman all had five kills. Chen added an ace, solo block, and a pair of digs, while Manning posted nine digs.
  • Marlowe McIntyre finished with a team-high 12 digs with two assists.
  • Catrione Hoelperl accounted for 16 out of the 26 Skidmore assists. Emma Ferrigno had seven with six digs.
  • Wesleyan’s Siena Steines finished with 12 kills on just 24 swings and one error for a .458 percentage.
  • Wesleyan hit .310 overall.
  • The Cardinals had an 8-2 edge in blocks and finished ahead 9-3 in aces.
  • Wesleyan led the first, 15-12, before putting it out of a reach with an 8-1 run.
  • The Thoroughbreds pulled to within three in the second set, 18-15, before the Cardinals rattled off the final seven points of the set.
  • Skidmore led early in the third set before surrendering nine unanswered to go down by seven. Skidmore answered the rally with a 7-1 run to pull to within just a point, but Steines put down three kills leading the Cardinals to a closing 7-2 run to clinch it.
