JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Saturday night was yet another battle to the end for the Jacksonville Dolphins, with the home squad fighting visiting FIU to a 2-2 draw.

The ‘Phins and the Panthers played as hard a contest as a fan could see, with 12 fouls for each team and five total yellow cards, four assessed to FIU.

At half, the score was a 0-0 ballgame however FIU opened the final 45 minutes of play with a goal in the 48thminute.

It didn’t take JU (2-3-1) long to answer as the ‘Phins tied things up behind a goal from senior Laura Di Mascio on senior night in the 55th minute, her first goal of the season. Almost five minutes later, JU took a 2-1 lead behind a goal from freshman Julia Delprat assisted by Madelyn Radtke. The goal was Delprat’s second.

In the 86th minute, FIU found the net after a scrum to tie the game at its final. 

Saturday served as the senior night celebration for JU’s eight graduating seniors. In net, senior keeper Pia Bozic played the whole 90 minutes.

Senior Manuela Restrepo played 66 minutes and collected a shot, as did senior Layla Garcia Moreno who played 46 minutes. Senior Alicia Rey Perez took one shot at the nylon and played 63 minutes.

Di Mascio led the seniors with two shots. Delprat led the team with three, two on goal.

Samantha Sharrocks led the non-keeper seniors in total minutes played with 72.

Jacksonville opens up ASUN play at home against Queens on Thursday, September 18. First kick for the game, which also serves as Military Appreciation Night, is scheduled for 7 p.m.
