SAN ANTONIO – An Amazon delivery driver was bitten by a dog while dropping off a package early Friday on the Far Southwest Side.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. at a home off Calle Aleman near West Montgomery.

Officials said the driver sustained two small puncture wounds to his ankle after being bitten by a blue heeler. He was treated at the scene.

Animal control officers made contact with the dog’s owner, who provided proof of the animal’s vaccinations through medical records. Because the dog’s shots were up to date, no citation was issued.

The dog has been placed under a routine 10-day quarantine for monitoring, Bexar County officials said.
