Tasos Karagianides

OBITUARY

Tasos (Ernie) Karagianides, 84, of El Cajon, California, died September 5, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Tasos was born in Stefanovouno, a small village near Larissa, Greece. In 1966, at the age of 25, he moved to San Diego with little more than a dream of a better life.

He first worked in the restaurant business, then in real estate. He had a love for traditional Greek card games and a passion for the news and international affairs. He cherished spending time with his many friends. Above all else, though, Tasos was devoted to his family and provided them with the life he had always wanted.

Tasos lived the American dream but always maintained close ties to, and a deep appreciation for, his Greek heritage and the vibrant Greek Orthodox community in San Diego. He is survived by his wife, Julie, and two sons, Stavros (Steve) and Dimitri.

Funeral services for Tasos will be held on September 16, 2025, at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church (3655 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92103). Those wishing to honor Tasos’s memory are encouraged to make a donation to the Anthousa Chapter of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society (https://www.anthousa.net/store).
