Detroit — The Red Wings won a hockey game Saturday.

No, not the NHL Wings, but a team of their best prospects, who defeated the Dallas Stars’ top prospects 6-2 in Frisco, Texas.

Emmitt Finnie, Amadeus Lombardi, Alex Doucet, Shai Buium, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, and Axel Sandin-Pellikka had Wings goals.

Brandsegg-Nygard and Sandin-Pellikka, both recent first-round draft picks, each have hope of possibly landing a spot on the Wings’ NHL roster when the regular season opens in October. Both scored goals in the third period Saturday as the Wings continued to pull away.

The teams meet again Sunday in Frisco (7 p.m., streaming on detroitredwings.com and Detroit Red Wings app).

The Wings open training camp for the NHL season Thursday in Traverse City.
