The summer months are officially upon us here in the UK, but is July’s PS Plus Essential offering good enough to keep you away from the sunshine? That’s what we’re here to find out!
Three PS5 titles are up for grabs next month, with Diablo 4 being the headline act. Blizzard’s action RPG was highly anticipated ahead of its release roughly two years ago, but despite positive reviews and a surge of initial popularity, the game’s had to endure a rough post-launch life.
Inconsistent updates and ham-fisted microtransactions have left Diablo 4’s reputation in a bit of a sorry state, but unless you plan on going all-in as a hardcore player, we think there’s definitely value in running through the campaign via PS Plus.
Next up, we’re going a little more niche with King of Fighters 15. While the franchise has never quite wielded the same weight as genre juggernauts like Street Fighter and Tekken, SNK’s franchise has long been a solid (and very technical) option for fighting game fans.
15 in particular is a sturdy competitor, and it’s probably worth checking out if you’ve got someone to go one-on-one with.
And lastly, subscribers can grab Jusant, a quirky traversal title that tasks players with scaling huge surfaces. With the release of Death Stranding 2 — another game with a heavy emphasis on not-so-standard travel — you could argue that Jusant is a poorly timed inclusion, but those hankering for a similar kind of experience should find a lot to like.

He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
