For some reason, certain things about a person just convey trustworthiness.

Accents are one such thing. Like, apparently, this one accent hailing from Pennsylvania.

In a study entitled “Who To Trust: The Most Trustworthy U.S. Accents,” BetUS Casino ranks the Philadelphian accent in third overall.

Philadelphia’s ranking — along with the others included on the list — was determined after BetUS Casino researchers analyzed online sentiment regarding each. Search data involving queries in relation to accents — such as “friendly” or “professional” — were also factored in.

“In the City of Brotherly Love, people in Philadelphia are direct but also convey a sense of honesty — which shows in over 19,000 searches for how friendly and professional the accent is,” the report reads.

“The Philly region also has some of the lowest amount of financial crimes amongst all the accents listed, which gives people more confidence in financial dealings with Philadelphians — from business partnerships to choosing a financial advisor, and more.”

The second top trustworthy accent was found to be Cajun, and the first, Boston.

The least trustworthy overall, however, was the Mountain West accent, which can be found in states such as Montana, Utah and Arizona. The Jersey accent came in second in this regard and the Southern accent in third.

“Trust has a lot to do with perception and previous experience, as you can’t always measure it,” the report concludes. “You can look at how often a specific region steals, how often others perceive them to be friendly, and much more, but the way someone talks can’t always be the determining factor.

“At the end of the day, it’s like shoving all your chips across the table — it can either end well or not, but you have to go with your gut. From their actions, promises, and many other things, there’s more than just an accent that showcases trust — it’s just up to you if you’re willing to give it.”
