“Punju Thoka”, a poetry book authored by former Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) K. Srinivas Reddy, was launched at the TGV Kalakshetram, in Kurnool on Sunday.
The event was presided over by TGV Kalakshetram president P. Obulayya and officially released by Ravindra Educational Institutions director G. Pullayya. Mr. Pullayya praised Mr. Srinivas Reddy as an officer of high ideals and moral values, adding that it was rare for officials in the Police Department to produce literary works of this calibre.
Shalivahana Corporation director P.B.V. Subbayya said that Mr. Srinivas Reddy has had a strong passion for Telugu literature since his college days.
Reviewers Kengara Mohan, Sahiti Sravanti State president Chandramoulini and Harikishan, commented that the book contains 120 poems written in an easily understandable style. The collection of poems is said to embody the “Navarasas” (nine classical emotions), while also focusing on the themes of deep social consciousness, patriotism, environmental appreciation, and human values.
Mr. Srinivas Reddy spoke about his journey, stating that he worked with dedication during his time in service and has now embarked on a new literary movement. He revealed that while some of his poems have already been published, he plans to release the rest through a new book soon. Mr Srinivas Reddy’s parents were also present on the dais for the book launch.
