The Bills return to action Sunday against a divisional foe and without one of its top defensive players.
Defensive tackle Ed Oliver (foot) will not play against the Jets after suffering an injury in Wednesday’s practice when a teammate stepped on his foot.
Oliver’s key strip of Ravens running back Derrick Henry opened the door for the Bills’ incredible fourth-quarter rally on “Sunday Night Football.”
With Oliver out of the lineup, the interior of the defensive line is extremely thin. Rookies T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker will likely need to shoulder a higher snap count, and the Bills’ linebackers and safeties will need to take a big step forward from last week against Breece Hall and the Jets ground game.
But, as last week showed, having the reigning MVP at quarterback covers up a lot of deficiencies.
