SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested after an overnight vehicle pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash that left two deputies and multiple people injured.
The crash happened Saturday night at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of IH-35 and N Weidner Rd.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department, deputies saw a BMW speeding and weaving through traffic. They attempted to pull the BMW over but were unsuccessful after losing sight of it. The car passed by a deputy again, and another chase began.
The BMV driver then drove through a red light at the intersection of I-35 and Weidner. A deputy then ran into a truck and an SUV while attempting to clear the intersection.
One deputy sustained a head injury and has signs of a concussion, and another deputy was injured on the wrist. Multiple occupants of the civilian vehicles, including a minor who was not wearing their seatbelt, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The BMW driver, Michael Castilleja, 19, was arrested and charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle after being located at his girlfriend’s house.
