The Tennessee Titans put up a valiant fight against the Los Angeles Rams in their home opener at Nissan Stadium on Sunday, but they could not overcome the Rams’ offensive domination. Especially by the time the fourth quarter rolled around, the Titans’ stamina was gone. And if it wasn’t their stamina, then they lost their __. After taking a 13-10 lead into the locker room at halftime, the Titans fell to the Rams 33-19.
There were a few bright spots in the game, though, and one of them is this week’s Player of the Game: Rookie wide receiver Chimere Dike. It was a difficult decision this week, with kicker Joey Slye and running back Tony Pollard performing very well, along with Xavier Woods and Cody Barton.

Dike was involved in every version of the Titans’ offensive and special teams plays today. He recorded two rushes for nine yards, two receptions for -1 yards, returned five kickoffs for 83 yards, and returned two punts for 37 yards. He had a punt return for a touchdown negated by an Illegal Block penalty called on Cedric Gray, so if that was included, then he would have added some points, too. That call, by the way, was atrocious and in no way was an illegal block.
Toward the end of the game, Dike saved a potential interception. Cam Ward threw the ball to him in double coverage, and it bounced into the air. Dike made sure the Rams’ defenders didn’t catch it, either. Ward went right back to him on the next play. He looked very comfortable on the field today, regardless of what the Titans asked him to do. He definitely has a bright future in the NFL.
