TYLER, Texas — A six-month-old from Texas is now enjoying her free time away from the office.

On Wednesday, the Tyler City Council celebrated one of its youngest retirees, Olivia Alarcon, who has just completed her time in the city’s “Infant at Work” program.

“Today we have Olivia Alarcon, who’s receiving her certificate for 6 months of service in the city of Tyler,” said Mayor Don Warren.

The “Infant at Work” initiative allows employees to bring their babies to work starting at four weeks old until they reach six months.

Olivia’s mother, Vita Alarcon, who works at Tyler Transit, said the program had a significant impact on her family’s life.

The initiative, which began in 2002, has seen Olivia become the 20th baby to “retire.” Olivia now plans to spend more time with her grandmother.
