PHOENIX — A man was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street near Phoenix Sky Harbor International on Saturday night, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department responded to the incident near 28th and Van Buren streets around 6:15 p.m. and found a man, later identified as 45-year-old James Dillow, with “life-threatening injuries.”

Police took Dillow to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

In their early investigation, detectives assigned to the incident said Dillow was supposedly crossing the street “against the light” before being hit by the car.

The car was believed to be heading westbound on Van Buren Street.

The vehicle’s driver, who was left unidentified, remained on the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to authorities.

This is an ongoing investigation.
