There’s nothing like the first one.
On Sunday after the Cowboys’ rollercoaster win against the New York Giants, first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer was given the game ball in an emotional postgame locker room ceremony alongside Dak Prescott and Jerry Jones.
“Very special, man,” the Cowboys quarterback could be seen saying in a video posted by Cowboys social media. “For you, first game ball. First win. Hell of a coach.”
It was Prescott who then handed over the ball to his head coach, a teary-eyed Schottenheimer receiving raucous applause from his team and a group hug to go along with it.

Schottenheimer, the son of late coaching icon Marty Schottenheimer, spent 27 years in various spots as an NFL assistant before being tapped by the Cowboys for his first head coaching gig, at any level.
No doubt the Cowboys and “Schotty” hope it’s the first of many wins.
Brian Schottenheimer’s voice was hoarse after the win and celebration. He was asked when his voice will come back.
“After a couple Schottys,” he said.
What’s a Schotty? Vodka + water + 3 lemons, btw.
