The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday, JSO said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead early Monday morning after the car he was driving lost control and hit a tree near Atlantic Boulevard, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office crash investigators.

Police said they responded to the crash on Joeandy Road near Atlantic Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Monday. Investigators said a man driving a Ford Mustang was driving north on Joeandy Road when he lost control, hitting a tree in the center median. 

Jacksonville Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead.

The crash was the third traffic fatality in a span of six hours.

Late Sunday night, two motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes.

JSO said the Joeandy Road crash marks the 114th traffic fatality of 2025 for Duval County.
